Organising Indievelopment

2012 - 2014

Indievelopment is a Dutch indie-game development conference. During the event lectures are given by guest speakers about different topics such as business, programming, design and art. The event also contained an exposition area where visitors could showcase their games, scout for talent and increase their network. The event has grown from two hundred fifty attendees to more than a thousand in a few years, becoming an important happening in the Dutch game development industry.

The first iteration of Indievelopment took place in 2012. It became an annual event and in the years 2013 and 2014 I joined the organizational committee where my primary role was to reach out to potential speakers and arrange their flight and accommodation. I have been in contact with prominent figures from the game industry such as Robin Hunicke, Austin Wintory, Chris Avellone, Paul Weir and Jonathan Blow.

I have also been responsible for organizing the Indievelopment Awards in 2012 which was a competition where students could submit their own games. I was responsible for creating a jury from prominent Dutch game development people. The response was great, and it was a great addition to have at the event.
